NPC - Gillion the Bald
Gillion is the son of a rich merchant from the City of Greyhawk. His father paid for tutors in magic and trainers in swordcraft. Gillion attended the Grey College and apprenticed magic under Alcion a minor wizard so he is not entirely unskilled but he affects a level of experience he has not attained. His staff is a staff, his swords unenchanted and he can only wield one at a time.
He left Greyhawk for Verbobonc so he could make a name for himself while already pretending to reknown. He haunts the Wayside Inn where adventurers are likely to congregate and the Mercenaries Guild hall. He will accompany adventurers for a small share of any treasure. Despite his deficiencies he is likeable and not untrained. In 1eAD&D terms he is a fighter/magic-user with about 1/4 elven heritage though he claims he is a half-elf.
He will be a loyal companion and in time, if he survives, may live up to his youthful boasting.
