Inspired by a 2004 CF post I was unsurprised to see such a short list of named Beholders in published Greyhawk material. I always used Beholders exceedingly sparingly in my campaign and in my indexing never recalled seeing many used although there are more unnamed Beholders than are listed here.


While Beholders are present in the Flanaess they are rarely encountered. Unnatural creations of wizards or summonings from some distant and bizarre plane. They are no unknown to the wise or to well travelled and experienced adventurers, at least those that survive such encounters.
