Historical - Battle of a Fortnite's Length -110cy
The great cavalry squadrons of the Nyrondese were decimated by the end of the fighting with the Aerdy. King Galagas of Nyrond was eventually forced to make a final stand with the dehorsed remnant of his heavily armored royal guard while they were subjected to a deadly hail of arrows from the elven archers allied to Iknian the Aerdy king.
It was the alliance with the elves more than anything else that brought down the might of Nyrond. Loathe though they were to do so the contingents of elven archers first slew the Nyrondese horses allowing the much more lightly armored Flan allies of the Aerdy to flit among the gorey battlefields killing trapped and wounded cavalry while heavily armored Aerdy infantry battlied dismounted Nyrondese units before the could reorganise from their shattered squadrons.
The last to fall were the royal guard and King Galagas himself. Hemmed in by heavy infantry the were goaded by elven archers till they gave up their defensive position amid the crumbling ruins of an ancient Suel outpost and charged the Aerdy line. None were spared and King Galagas is said to have died with an elven arrow in his eye shot through the eye-slit of his great helm.
